How to Get Salon Blow Dry Volume at Home

Volume comes from lifting the root and cooling it in that position.

Step 1: Prep

Towel dry, then apply a mousse at the roots only.

Step 2: Section

Work in four sections. Small sections dry faster and hold better.

Step 3: Direct the airflow

Point the nozzle down the hair shaft, not across it, to keep the cuticle flat.

Step 4: Cool shot

Finish each section with cool air for two seconds. This is what sets the shape.
